🛡️ What Is a Trezor® Hardware Wallet?

Trezor® is a cold storage wallet — meaning your crypto is stored offline, away from hackers, viruses, and phishing attacks. It supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and over 1,000 other assets, giving you full control over your digital wealth.

Trezor never stores your keys online. Every action is confirmed on your physical device, keeping your funds safe at all times.

📦 Step 1: Unbox Your Trezor®

Inside the box, you should find:

• 1x Trezor hardware wallet (Model One or Model T)
• 1x USB cable
• 2x Recovery seed cards
• 1x Lanyard or keychain (optional)
• Instruction manual and stickers

✅ Check the box for signs of tampering. The device should be sealed and unaltered.

🌐 Step 2: Visit the Official Start Page

Go to Trezor.io/Start using a secure internet connection. Choose your device model:

• Trezor Model One
• Trezor Model T

You'll be directed to install Trezor Suite, the official management software for your wallet.

💾 Step 3: Download & Install Trezor Suite

Trezor Suite is available for:

• Windows
• macOS
• Linux

Download it directly from the official site to avoid scams or malware.

Once installed, open the app and connect your Trezor device via USB.

⚙️ Step 4: Install Firmware

If your Trezor is brand new, it won’t have firmware pre-installed. Trezor Suite will prompt you to:

• Install the latest firmware
• Confirm the process on your device screen
• Reboot the device afterward if required

This ensures your device is up to date and secure.

🆕 Step 5: Create a New Wallet

Choose “Create New Wallet” from within Trezor Suite.

This action generates a unique 12 or 24-word recovery seed — your one and only backup if your device is ever lost or reset.

✍️ Step 6: Write Down Your Recovery Seed

You will see your recovery phrase one word at a time on the Trezor screen.

DO:

• Write the seed down by hand
• Use the official backup card
• Store it securely offline (safe, vault, or metal backup)

DON’T:

• Take a photo or screenshot
• Save it digitally
• Share it with anyone

⚠️ Anyone with your seed can access your crypto!

🔢 Step 7: Set a PIN Code

After creating the wallet, you’ll be asked to set up a PIN code.

• The PIN is used to unlock your Trezor
• You’ll enter it every time you connect your device
• Use a non-obvious PIN (not 0000 or 1234)

This adds another layer of protection to your wallet.

Once your wallet is set up, you’ll be taken to your dashboard. Here, you can:

• Send & receive coins

🔐 Step 9: Make Your First Transaction

To test your wallet:

1. Choose a supported coin (e.g., Bitcoin)
2. Click "Receive" and copy your address
3. Send a small amount from an exchange or another wallet
4. Watch it appear in Trezor Suite after network confirmations

⚠️ Troubleshooting & Tips

• Device not recognized? Install Trezor Bridge (prompted by Trezor Suite)
• Forgot your PIN? The device will reset after several wrong attempts — use your seed to recover
• Lost device? No worries. You can restore your wallet using your 12/24-word phrase on a new Trezor

Never share your PIN or seed. Ever. Not even with Trezor support.
